Whatever the shift left you with.

Start with what you need. There's room for the hard days, the funny moments, and the things only a colleague would get.

Leave a little at work.

A 90-second sign-out to pause, reflect, and take a breath before you head home.

Why ShiftSignOut exists

Care doesn't stop at the end of a shift.

Healthcare work can stay with you. Shared experiences, a little humor, and a conversation with someone who understands can make the space after work feel less lonely.

Before you join

A few good questions.

Know what to expect, from verification to your first conversation.

Who is ShiftSignOut for?

ShiftSignOut is for everyone who works in healthcare and can show it. That includes physicians, nurses, PAs and NPs, therapists, technicians and technologists, paramedics and EMTs, pharmacy, dental, eye care and behavioral health staff, aides and patient care techs, transporters and unit clerks, chaplains, coders and administrators, and healthcare students on a clearly marked student account. Patients, press, recruiters and vendors are not admitted.

How does verification work?

Submit your healthcare credential for review. A person reads every application, usually within 48 hours, against a photo of your work badge or student ID. If you have an NPI number, it is checked against the federal NPI registry first. You can look around while you wait; posting opens after approval.

Is it really free?

Yes. There are no ads, no subscription, and no selling of member data.

Can I use it without an iPhone?

Yes. The full app runs in any modern web browser, on a work computer or an Android phone, with the same account as the iPhone app. Sign in at shiftsignout.app.

What does anonymous posting mean?

Anonymous confessions are stored with no author at all. Your name is not hidden from other members; the database has nowhere to keep it, so it cannot show who wrote one. What you write can still give you away, so leave out details only you would know. Everything else you post shows your name and role to other verified members. Direct messages only come from people you have connected with. Burnout numbers for your specialty and state only appear once at least five people have contributed, which makes it hard to single anyone out.

Can patients or recruiters join?

No. Every account must present a healthcare credential that can be checked, so there is no route in for patients, press, recruiters or vendors.

Can I discuss patient information?

No. ShiftSignOut is not a HIPAA-covered service and is not for patient information. Talk about the work, not the patient: leave out anything that could identify someone, including in anonymous posts.
