Terms of Service

Last updated 14 August 2026.

Nothing here is medical advice. Content is posted by individual clinicians and is not reviewed for clinical accuracy before publication. Daily challenge questions are educational and may contain errors — report anything wrong using the flag on the question. Always defer to your own training, your institution's protocols and current guidance.

Who may use ShiftSignOut

Verified healthcare professionals, and health-professions students under a student account with restricted access. You must be 18 or older, provide accurate verification details, and not share your account.

Patient privacy

You must not post protected health information or anything that could identify a patient — directly or by combination of details — including in anonymous areas. This is the one rule that results in immediate removal and, on repetition, permanent loss of your account. Reports of patient privacy breaches are the highest-priority category and content is hidden on sight pending review.

Conduct

  • No harassment, discrimination, threats or targeting of individuals — colleagues or patients.
  • No impersonation of a credential you do not hold.
  • No recruitment spam. Job and shadowing listings must be real and posted by someone connected to them.
  • No content that is unlawful, or that depicts identifiable patients without lawful basis.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. You grant us a license to host and display it within the service so the app can function. You are responsible for having the right to post it.

Moderation

Reported content is reviewed and acted on, and we aim to act on objectionable content within 24 hours. We may remove content or suspend accounts for violations. Verification may be revoked if a credential lapses or was misrepresented.

No employment or professional relationship

ShiftSignOut is not your employer, does not verify job listings beyond requiring a named poster, and is not party to any arrangement you make with another member — including shadowing. Verify opportunities independently.

Pay reports

Pay figures are reported by members about themselves. They are not verified, not audited, and not collected from employers. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or unrepresentative of any particular job, and nothing is done to confirm that a reported figure is real.

What the app shows is a median and a middle range across a group of members who share a credential and a region. Individual figures are never shown, and a group is not shown at all until enough members have reported that no one person can be identified from it. No employer is named or identified anywhere in this feature.

This is information, not advice. It is not financial, legal, employment or career advice, not a salary benchmark, not a valuation of your work, and not a recommendation about what you or anyone else should be paid or should accept. ShiftSignOut does not set, suggest, endorse or coordinate rates of pay, and this feature exists for individual workers rather than for employers to consult about what to pay people. Do not rely on it as the basis for a decision without checking your own situation independently.

Reporting your own pay is entirely optional and you can decline without losing any other part of the service. You are responsible for knowing whether anything you have agreed with an employer affects what you choose to share. We make no promise that the figures shown are accurate and, to the maximum extent permitted by law, accept no liability for decisions made in reliance on them.

Not a crisis service

Wellbeing features are peer support, not treatment, and nobody monitors posts for emergencies. If you are in crisis, contact 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or your local emergency service.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or terminate an account for any violation of these terms.

Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided as is, without warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for decisions made in reliance on content posted by members.
